A roof is one of the most difficult structures in the house
or commercial building. Every roof structure demands a different level of knowledge.
Usually before you waterproof the roof, you have to be aware of what you’re
sealing in. Roof sealers do more than just fixing up pores or crack in the roof
surface, they can also be used as a barrier to seal in surface impurities like
dirt, wax, and natural oil and prevent them from leaking out of the wood and
through finish.
A Roof sealant can be used for installation and maintenance
of roof in different areas ranging from;
· At lap seams
· At tough joints
· Under a snow shield on a roof
· Under ridgy planks and joints of a tent shape roof
Roof sealants are usually bright white, reflective, roofing
solutions for roof which have some useful life left in them and are not yet
ready to be torn off. Roof sealants like EPDM Liquid Rubber are capable of
restoring old roof at a fraction of cost of new roof.
The advantage EPDM Rubber over other roofing materials is
that, it does not crack, peel or become brittle over time and has been tested
in sub Zero temperatures. These facts make EPDM Liquid Rubber an ideal roof
sealant for flat roof structures both residential and commercial.
Some tips on sealing
areas prone to leaking;
·
Caulk and seal air leaks
where plumbing, ducting, or electrical wiring comes through walls, floors, and
ceilings.
·
Look for dirty spots on
your ceiling paint and which may indicate water leaks at interior wall/ceiling
joints and wall/floor joists, and caulk them
·
Calk the gasket before
installation. Use child safety plugs in occasional used outlets.
·
When installing a new
electrical outlet, place it in a plastic container easily available from
hardware stores. Caulk the penetration for the wire, and seal the new air and
vapor barrier to the edge of the box.
